3th cross! We evolve! 1st one 36th, 2nd 35th and yesterday 34th. The day was filled with sun and good legs. Little by little I could take some places. I was at 8 seconds from a group of 6 when I lost my chain twice. But did not give up. Then in the before last lap my derailleur broke. Good legs but tired gear. Getting the cross feeling back! On to the next one!
RESULT - 34/49 STRAVA
Yesterday 2nd cross, Nossegem's Patattencross was like last week. Full sunshine with a dry and fast track.
On those bumps it was not easy not to fly. Was riding with bit to low pressure but it was nice. Those @ritcheylogic rims got few direct hits but they are strong! Not to much cleaning after the race neither. Should take a Swiffer instead of a pressure washer if it stays like this. Result 35/41 STRAVA
1st race today! And got the first taste of a B-Cross in Kasterlee. This is another level. Start in the back but no way to go to the front. Its time to get used to other surfaces and see where I can get myself between those beasts.
Result: 36/43 STRAVA PK Elite zc GalmaardenIndeed! Last post was ages ago. But that does not mean nothing happened. April was quite some month. It started with the Provincial Championships. Time Trial and then Road. The road champs was one to look forward to. It was my first +140 km race and it contained Bosberg, one of the old Ronde van Vlaanderen cobbled hills. A small group of strong riders was quickly formed after few laps and it was hammering to try and get em back but nobody managed to do it. I was in the chasing peloton and happy to finish the race 35th! RESULT 35/118 - STRAVA Arden ChallengeStage 1 - CompogneFirst stage of the Arden challenge. I never race 2 consecutive days but now I was gonna do 4. I honestly don't know much about racing but if there is one thing I know then its how much you have to eat. And with much I mean a lot! The first stage was tough, it was much in red zone on the climbs to keep up. I also managed to catch up again with the peloton after losing the and leaving a 20 seconds gap. It was a painful moment but it was worth it. In the before last local lap I managed to beak a spoke in my rear wheel and decided to change but I lost a lot of time and did not manage to get back. With 10 km less on the counter I still got in the general classification and ready for stage 2! RESULT 56/204 - STRAVA Stage 2 - ChinyHier klikken om te bewerken.Day 2: Happy the legs were still moving so I was ready for more! Here not much long climbs, only steep ones, a sketchy descent followed by a steep hill to the finish line. I could easily keep up but I lost to much places in the pack while going downhill. Good that there was "papa" Thierry who guided me trough and put me in front again. Here were a lot of attacks but I did not really respond or took action. After a while a group took off and we never saw them back. Climbing the last hill was with pretty much juice left so I was ready for day 3.. RESULT 66/184 - STRAVA Stage 3 - ErezeeOne of those epic moments, standing at the starting line in pissing rain. Starting downhill with already a massive crash in the front. It was gonna be an interesting day for sure! The guys from Verandas Willems were participating that day and they were not gonna spare our legs. After race got neutralized the gas was opened and lot of groups were formed. I got stuck in a group where there was not much work done so I decided to open the gas an go on my own. I could hammer from the 3th group to the 2nd together with a tall Dutch guy with a Basso frame. I had superlegs on that day and once arrived at the 2nd group I jumped away on the hill to the finish, with no clue of how big the gap was... Apparently it was few minutes because they let us stop at 2 local laps before. Still Happy of course to arrive 37th! RESULT 37/194 - STRAVA Stage 4 - Bertrix 2nd Interclub race of the season. It was since March ago. The team got all prepared to hammer up the "Petit Poggio", 8 times.Thats how they local call that hill. Again a killer. First 2 laps I could stay on the big plate. First attack was for me and my teammate Simon van Roy. Both realized it was still early in the race and went wisely back to the peloton.
I could stay all the time well in front and was ready for anything. I placed a little jump and got followed by Matthijs Paasschens for Cureghem sportif. (who became 4th) We got a few meters and were both joking that we were eager to attack and that it was to early but apparently that triggered a few other people to take action. And all of a sudden we were a group of 14 riders on the attack for the 2 leaders. We could easily catch them and the pack rotated nicely. I could stand for 2 laps easy but on the 3th lap I stalled on the Poggio.. Something that never should have happened. Suddenly there was a 10 meter gap and impossible to close it. It was clear those guys went for victory. So then it was back to the peloton. There it felt pretty relax and i tried to make the best out of it. Eventually finished 74th but it could have been a top 20. But its not that i did not bite my teeth ;). |
